Accessibility
Our Commitment to Accessibility
The Tech Shop wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people with disabilities. Finding help with computer repair, tech scam recovery, security, Starlink, or security cameras for your home, small business, or farm should be easy for everyone. We are working to make this site accessible in line with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Standard We Follow
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This website is partially conformant, which means some content does not yet fully meet the standard. We have not obtained any third-party accessibility certification.
Measures We Have Taken
- Descriptive alt text: We have added descriptive alternative text to the images on the site, so people who use screen readers can understand the photos of our work, projects, and shop animals.
- Easy way to reach us: You can contact us by email about any accessibility issue.
- Checking new content: We check new pages and photos for accessibility when we add them.
- Manual and automated checks: We review the site with automated checking tools and by hand (for example, using only a keyboard), because automated tools alone can miss problems.
Compatibility With Browsers and Assistive Technology
This website is designed to work with:
- Current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge) on desktop and mobile
- Browser zoom up to 200% and keyboard-only navigation
Older browsers may not display the site correctly.
Known Limitations
We know about the following issues and are working on them where we can:
- Website platform: The site runs on Squarespace. Some templates, built-in features, and site code are controlled by Squarespace, and we cannot change all of them directly.
- Decorative background images: Some background and banner images are decorative only. They are not described for screen readers, and text placed over them may not always have strong color contrast.
- Photo gallery: The photo gallery opens pictures in a full-screen viewer, which may be harder to use with a keyboard or screen reader.
- Playful link text: Some links use joke wording and symbols that screen readers may read in an unusual way.
Third-Party Content
Some content and services come from other companies, such as our website platform (Squarespace), map and directions services (Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Waze), and web fonts from Adobe Fonts. We do not control how accessible these are. If something from another company gets in your way, contact us and we will help you get the same information or directions another way.
Alternative Formats and Help Getting Service
If any part of this site is hard to use, we are happy to help in another way. For example, we can:
- Send service details, directions, or estimates in a format that works for you
- Send information as plain-text email or in large print
- Take your repair or service request by email instead of through the website
Report a Problem or Give Feedback
Please tell us if you run into a barrier on this site. It helps if you include the page address (URL), what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you use, but you do not need to.
